Recreation Therapist PRN

Memorial Health University Medical Center is seeking a Recreation Therapist / Activity Therapist for our practice, providing clinical expertise to ensure patients receive high quality, efficient care. The role supports the care team by completing activity assessments, organizing therapeutic activities, and tracking patient progress.

Job Summary And Qualifications

Responsibilities:

• Provide activities for patients admitted to the program, following the group schedule and coordinating holiday activities on specified dates.
• Attend treatment team meetings and progress reviews, documenting attendance on treatment planning update forms.
• Conduct individual activity assessments within given timeframes.
• Provide a written summary of initial assessment, evaluation, treatment, and progress, as evidenced by completed forms in the medical record.
• Conduct individual, group, and family sessions as indicated in the patient treatment plan.
• Facilitate support groups to meet the needs of patients/families as indicated by the medical record.
• Make necessary contacts with community resources to ensure continuity of patient care.
• Provide education and information about the inpatient unit to patients and families.
• Provide resources and support for patients before, during, and after treatment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a related field.
• Appropriate certification, registration, and/or license in the designated degree field per national and state practice requirements.
• Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist Credential (CTRS) highly preferred.
• 1–2 years of therapeutic activities within a psychiatric setting preferred.
• Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.

No Travel Required
