Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Interviews inmates to identify and monitor mental health needs.
  • Ensures inmates receive timely services from the appropriate mental health clinician(s).
  • Acts as liaison with classification, medical, security and other departments for inmates with special mental health needs.
  • Contacts inmates' families and outside agencies to assist with treatment and discharge planning.
  • Conducts didactic, psychoeducational and/or supervised group/individual counseling with offenders.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve work processes and customer satisfaction and implements improvements.
  • Keeps up-to-date with developments in mental health by attending seminars and reading professional journals.
