Holyoke Medical Center is seeking a Mental Health Counselor for the Geriatric Behavioral Health unit. The position is part-time, evenings (3:00pm-11:30pm, EOW EO H), in Holyoke, MA, within Support Services. Responsibilities include care coordination, documentation, and patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School/GED with 1 year behavioral health experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field; 1 year healthcare experience (Counselor II).
• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service Field; 4 years direct behavioral health experience (Counselor III).

Responsibilities

• Care for admitted behavioral health patients across three inpatient units.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team to ensure a safe, therapeutic environment; complete required documentation.
• Provide ADL care, obtain vital signs, and facilitate group activities per behavioral health theories.

Holyoke Medical Center is in need of hiring a Mental Health Counselor.

Under the direction of the Director of Inpatient Behavioral Health, performs a wide range of functions related to the care and treatment of admitted behavioral health patients across the three inpatient units. These functions include participating in the multidisciplinary team approach to patient care, ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment and the completion of required documentation. Additional tasks may include, but are not limited to ADL care, obtaining vital signs and facilitating group activities based on behavioral health theories and concepts. Incumbent is expected to adhere to System and Department compliance policies, and any and all applicable laws and regulations. This description covers the essential functions of the position. Incumbent is expected to perform other similar and related duties as assigned. Management reserves the right to change or add to the job responsibilities at any time. Counselor II

Bachelor’s Degree and one year of healthcare or High School/GED with three years required, Bachelor’s Degree Psychology, Education, or related Human Service Field preferred.

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service Field, Four years direct behavioral health experience required,
