Job summary

Luminis Health cares for patients in the ED and related units. A CNA is needed to assist with direct patient care, hygiene, and safety checks under the supervision of a nurse.

The role emphasizes teamwork, attention to patient conditions, and efficient patient flow from intake to discharge. BLS and CPI training within 30 days of hire are required, with a strong focus on psychiatric care environments.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• One year of experience as a CNA in acute care setting preferred.
• Experience in acute psychiatric environment, either ED or inpatient psychiatric unit preferred

Responsibilities

• Assists with intake/admissions for mental health patients arriving to ED or transferring from other areas of ED in supporting the patient, communicating expectations and assisting with safety check in.
• Provides direct care to patients with personal hygiene in the morning and bedtime care; initiates and maintains all safety measures.
• Maintains a supportive presence in the EDMH and assists team with early identification and intervention in potential escalating events; reports changes in patient condition to nurse.
• Prioritizes discharge by assisting with dressing, gathering belongings and transport if necessary to lobby.
• Transports medications during usual course of transporting patients, ensuring medication security per policy.
• Transports patients in accordance with safety policies.
• Processes written medical staff orders; communicates STAT or urgent orders to care provider.
