Functions as a clinical member of a multi-disciplinary service team, responsible for expeditious response to mental health crises within the community. Clients are generally experiencing psychiatric distress and/or extremes in emotions or behavior impacting their ability to function; in most instances, referrals for this program reflect that the client is perceived by the referral source as being in psychiatric crisis or severely dysfunctional related to psychiatric crisis or psychiatric issues; this includes the safety of client or others as being at risk. In addition to treatment services, responsibilities of the position include assertive case management, maintaining an overall perspective on client functioning, environmental factors, resource needs and advocacy on behalf of clients. The aim of services is to work with the clients (and families/others) toward supporting their ability to assume responsibility and manage their emotions and behavior and to thereby function in the least restrictive setting possible. Finally, management of a caseload of clients with some additional departmental tasks summarizes the expectations of this position.
