Job summary

Meeting Street is seeking a Mental Health Clinician to join our team in Providence, RI, working 40 hours per week in a setting dedicated to children’s development. The role emphasizes family involvement, IFSP planning, and collaborative care with EI colleagues to support infants and toddlers in their natural environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1-year related experience working with infants and toddlers from birth to age 5.
• Valid pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
• Employees must have reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth. Twenty hours of training per year.

Responsibilities

• Interprets screening/evaluation results focusing on the child’s functional capabilities with emphasis on self-help, motor development, mobility, sensory integration, behavior, play and oral-motor functioning.
• Adapts environment and designs assistive devices to support development respecting family culture and traditions.
• Develops and implements appropriate treatment plan (IFSP) with the family and EI team.
• Includes family throughout evaluation/assessment and IFSP process.
• Works with a team to gather information from multiple sources to plan an individualized evaluation/IFSP.
• Conducts home visits to evaluate a child’s living conditions and parent‑child interactions.

Meeting Street is currently looking for a Mental Health Clinician for 40 per week.

Duties

• Demonstrates competence in interpreting results of screening and evaluation in terms of the child’s functional capabilities with an emphasis on self-help skills, fine and gross motor development, mobility, sensory integration, behavior, play and oral-motor functioning and explains results to families in a mindful manner incorporating health literacy.
• Creates adaptation of the environment for infants or toddlers and selects, designs and fabricates assistive devices to facilitate development and promote the acquisition of functional skills with respect to the family’s culture and traditions.
• Develops and implements appropriate treatment plan (IFSP) with the family and EI team.
• Actively includes family throughout the entire evaluation/assessment and IFSP process.
• Works as member of a team to gather and organize information from multiple sources to plan an individualized evaluation/assessment and IFSP.
• Conducts home visits to evaluate a child’s living conditions and patterns of parent-child interactions.

Requirements

• Minimum of 1-year related experience working with infants and toddlers from birth to age 5.
• One of the following state licenses:

• Psychology - Licensed by the Board of Psychology: Rhode Island Department of Health
• Social Work - Licensed by the Board of Social Work Examiners: Rhode Island Department of Health
• Mental Health Counselor - Licensed as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor by the Board of Mental Health Counselors and
• Marriage and Family Therapists Rhode Island Department of Health

• Commitment to ongoing professional growth. Employees of Early Intervention are required to obtain twenty hours of training a year, in addition or in correlation with the requirements for your professional certification.
• Valid pediatric CPR and First Aid certification.
• Early Intervention services are provided in the child’s Natural Environments, which include the home, childcare settings and the community or other immediate environments natural the child and family’s environment.
• Employees must be able to provide reliable transportation to meet job needs as well as proof of a current driver’s license.
• Able to get to the child’s level, climb stairs, deal with weather conditions, lift, bending and squatting.
