Job summary

Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine (SASSMM) seeks a Mental Health Clinician to provide trauma-informed services for survivors aged 12+ in Brunswick or Searsport, ME, or via remote online care. Services are grant-funded and offered free of charge with no client billing.

The clinician will develop treatment plans, deliver individual and group therapy, and collaborate with MECASA and local partners to expand rural mental health access.

Qualifications

  • Licensed as a mental health clinician in the state of Maine (LMSW,LCSW, LCPC).
  • Familiarity with TF-CBT and/or EMDR preferred.
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive care and a commitment to diverse communities.

  • Provide evidence-based individual and group therapy to survivors of sexual violence using trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches.

Job description

Job Title: Mental Health Clinician (No Client Billing Required)

Job Status: Two 10-20hrs/week Contractors with an hourly rate of $75. Approximately 12 clinical hours per 20 hours of work.

Job Location: In-person at SASSMM Offices in Brunswick or Searsport, ME, within their own clinical practice space, or via remote online services.

POSITION OBJECTIVE

Thetherapist will provide trauma-informed mental health services as part of Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine’s (SASSMM)Mental Health Pilot Expansion program. Thetherapistsare responsible for deliveringtherapyservices to child (ages 12+) and adult survivors impacted by sexual violenceand collaborating with center staff to provide holistic care. Through grant funding, services will be offered free of charge and will require no billing on the part of the provider. This role is part ofthe Maine Coalition Against Sexual Assault’s (MECASA)effort to expand mental health services, particularlyin rural and underserved Maine communities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provideevidence-basedindividualand grouptherapyto survivors of sexualviolenceusing trauma-informed, survivor-centered approaches.
  • Develop and implementindividualtreatment plans for clients based on individual needs and trauma histories.
  • Offer culturally responsive and inclusive mental health services that reflect the diverse needs of clients.
  • Facilitate telehealth sessions whereappropriate, ensuring access for clients in remoteareas or where transportation is a barrier.
  • Ensure that therapeutic practices meet ethical guidelines andcomply with state licensing requirements.
  • Collaborate with local center staff to integrate mental health services with existing advocacy and support programs.
  • Maintain communication withSASSMM and MECASAto assess the ongoing needs and effectiveness ofservices.
  • Participate in case reviews, team meetings, and supervision, as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Midcoast Children’s Advocacy Center as part of their Advisory Board.
  • Collect and maintain accurate, confidential records of services provided.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities related to trauma-informed care, sexual assault, and mental health, as f funding is available.
  • Stay current with best practices and emerging trends in trauma-informed therapy and mental health services.
  • Participate in regular clinical supervision with the Mental Health Services Coordinator.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • Licensed as a mental health clinician in the state of Maine (LMSW,LCSW, LCPC)
  • Previous experience working with survivors of sexual violence or trauma
  • Familiarity with Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) preferred
  • Strong understanding of culturally responsive care and a commitment to working with diverse communities
  • Proficient in using telehealth platforms and relevant software
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in clinical documentation and reporting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration and outreach efforts
