Job summary

Owen J. Roberts School District is seeking a Mental Health Counselor to support the Student Assistant Services Department at the district level. The role involves assessments, guidance, and community referrals to promote student well-being.

• Respond to crisis situations when appropriate and coordinate with the Student Assistant Services Department.

POSITION TITLE: Mental Health Counselor

LOCATION: District

POSITION GOAL: Provide support to the Student Assistant Services Department

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct drug and alcohol assessments and make recommendations
• Provide guidance information and resources
• Make referrals to appropriate community resources in accordance with school district guidelines
• Coordinate and implement group guidance programs, including anger management, grief, COA, changing families, anxiety, social skills, stress management, peer relations, and others topics as deemed necessary
• Respond to crisis situations when appropriate
• Collaborate with and support the Student Assistant Services Department

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in related field required
• Master's Degree and/or License in related field preferred
• Effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop good relationships with students, peers, parents and community.
• Well organized with good time management skills.
• Ability to express self clearly and concisely in oral and written communications; and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups.
• Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
• Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
• Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.

Terms Of Employment

$25.00 per hour, 499 hours for the year
