Job summary

University of Minnesota in Duluth is inviting applications for part-time adjunct faculty in the Master of Engineering program. The positions are non-tenure-track for spring semester (Jan 7–May 23, 2007) to develop curriculum and teach two graduate courses online: ENGR 6204 and ENGR 6205.

Courses are fully asynchronous online with typical appointments of one to two classes per semester; candidates should be able to teach both courses and manage virtual offices, grading, and student support.

Qualifications

• Ph.D./MS in Engineering from a regionally accredited university.
• One year of relevant teaching experience at the college level (graduate TA experience acceptable) or professional experience in a relevant field.
• Effective written and oral communication skills appropriate to the position.
• Experience using technology for teaching.

About the Job

Applications are invited for part-time adjunct faculty positions in the Master of Engineering program. These adjunct faculty positions are non-tenure-track appointments for spring semester, January 7- May 23, 2007, with possible extension as needed by the department. The primary role of this position is to develop curriculum and teach two graduate-level courses within the Project Management and Sustainable and Resilient Engineering Curriculum:

• ENGR 6204 Communication and Community Engagement for Sustainability Projects, a 3 credit course
• ENGR 6205 Appropriate Design for Sustainability, a 3 credit course

Courses in the Master of Engineering program are fully asynchronous online. A typical appointment would be one to two classes a semester depending on need.

• Experience using technology for teaching

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineering licensure
• Two or more years of relevant college-level teaching experience
• Two or more years of professional experience in a relevant field
• Terminal degree from a regionally accredited university in a relevant field
• Expertise in using technology for teaching
• Demonstrated experience with assessment
• Evidence of the ability to work effectively with diverse groups

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $5,700.00 - $8,985.00 per course; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
