Job summary

Chowan University seeks an Assistant/Head Coach to assist in overseeing a sports program and to support instructional activities in health and physical education as needed.

You will help analyze performance, recruit student-athletes, schedule practices, maintain facilities, and monitor academic progress while upholding NCAA regulations and promoting sportsmanship. A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred, with collegiate coaching experience strongly desired.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Previous collegiate coaching experience with proven success.
• Strong understanding of NCAA regulations and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assist in analyzing performance and instructing athletes in game strategies and techniques.
• Assist Head Coach in scheduling, organizing, and overseeing practices; prepare the field and maintain equipment.
• Counsel students and assist them in solving problems.
• Coordinate recruiting efforts in accordance with NCAA guidelines; contact recruits, coaches, and parents; arrange campus visits.
• Supervise student employees.
• Monitor study halls and track players’ grades.
• Perform additional duties as directed by athletic leadership.
