Job summary

The Athletics Department at Cal State LA is seeking two full-time Assistant Coaches for the Men’s Basketball program for the 2026-2027 academic year. Under the Head Coach, the assistant will support all aspects of a NCAA Division II program, including practice planning, player development, game preparation, recruiting, video analysis, academic support, travel, compliance, and operations.

They will promote student‑athlete success, equity, inclusion, and sportsmanship, and assist with mentorship,

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and coaching experience.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification required upon hire.
Valid driver’s license and university driver authorization.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing and implementing team and individual strategies through on-court instruction, player development, and video analysis.
Provide instruction and mentorship to student-athletes to enhance athletic performance and leadership.
Assist the Head Coach with practice planning, game preparation, recruiting, program logistics, and daily operations.
Support academic success, retention, and well-being of student-athletes.
Promote engagement with the university and community through outreach and representation.
Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies.
