Job summary

California State University, Los Angeles is hiring two full-time Assistant Coaches for Men’s Basketball for the 2026-2027 year. Under the Head Coach, you’ll assist with practice planning, development, recruiting, video analysis, and academic support to student-athletes.

The role requires knowledge of NCAA rules, the ability to coach and develop athletes, and strong communication. Evening/weekend travel may be required; salary scales are commensurate with education and experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and demonstrated coaching experience in athletics, physical education, kinesiology, or a related field.
• Must possess or obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and meet university driver authorization requirements throughout employment.
• Knowledge of NCAA Rules and regulations for compliance is required.
• Ability to instruct and develop student-athletes in a competitive collegiate basketball environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing team and individual strategies through on-court instruction, player development, and video analysis to maximize competitive success.
• Provide instruction and mentorship to student-athletes to enhance athletic performance, teamwork, leadership, and personal development.
• Assist the Head Coach with practice planning, game preparation, and strategy, recruiting efforts, program logistics, and daily operations.
• Support the academic success, retention, and overall well-being of student-athletes.
• Promote positive engagement with the university and community through community outreach initiatives and program representation.
• Maintain compliance with NCAA, conference, and university policies and procedures.
