Job summary

Cal State LA's Athletics Department seeks two full-time Assistant Coaches for Men’s Basketball for the 2026-2027 academic year. Under the Head Coach, you will assist with practice planning, player development, video analysis, recruiting, and program operations to support student‑athlete success.

The role requires knowledge of NCAA rules, strong communication, and a commitment to equity and inclusion. Evening/weekend travel and compliance duties are involved.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and coaching experience in athletics, physical education, kinesiology, or related field.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification upon hire.
• Valid driver’s license and compliance with university driver requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and implementing team and individual strategies through on‑court instruction and video analysis.
• Provide instruction and mentorship to student‑athletes to enhance athletic performance and leadership.
• Assist Head Coach with practice planning, game preparation, and recruiting efforts.
• Support academic success, retention, and wellbeing of student‑athletes.
• Promote engagement with university and community through outreach and representation.
• Maintain NCAA, conference, and university compliance.
