Job summary

Northwestern Medicine seeks a Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join the Memory Neurology team. This APP will work in an outpatient-focused setting within a transdisciplinary team, handling evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing management of cognitive and memory disorders.

Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm with no on-call requirements. The role includes teaching, mentoring, and participation in quality improvement and research activities to advance patient

Qualifications

• Master’s degree from an accredited school/college of nursing or a master’s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Acute care certification required for APRNs (inpatient experience as an NP may be considered in lieu of acute care certification).
• First Assist Certification for all APRNs.
• Current IL RN license and IL APN license; national APRN certification per IL requirements; eligibility for controlled substance license/DEA.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical care to patients and manage cognitive neurology/memory disorders.
• Prescribe or order medications and therapies and interpret tests.
• Educate patients and families, document care in the medical record, and coordinate with the transdisciplinary team.
• Refer to other disciplines and act as consultant within specialty.
• Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives and mentor students.
