Job summary

Era Living is seeking a part-time Terrace Recreation Assistant II for the Ida Culver House Broadview Community in Seattle, WA. You will support Life Enrichment activities, lead/group programming, and assist with resident orientation and outings, ensuring safety and confidentiality for older adults.

The role requires strong leadership, good communication, and the ability to coordinate events, transport residents, and manage documentation for participation in programs.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required
  • First Aid and CPR certification or able to obtain within 30 days
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days
  • Washington State Alcohol Permit or able to obtain within 30 days
  • Complete Caregiver Dementia and Caregiver Mental Health training within 120 days
  • Must complete 70 hour course to earn a long term care aide certificate within 120 days
  • Complete 12 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) yearly

  • The Terrace Recreation Assistant II supports the Life Enrichment program in the memory care unit
  • Coordinate and lead group, individual and resident orientation activities
  • Set up and clean-up of space/supplies/equipment for activities, classes and events
  • Support new resident orientation activities as required
  • Coordinate events, including booking, catering and advertising; develop and maintain a list of scenic drives and destinations
  • Provide transportation for recreation trips for residents as needed, assist residents in and out of the bus or vehicle as required
  • Provide clerical support
  • Document resident participation
  • Oversee Cognitive Enrichment, Physical Fitness and Social programming

Era Living is seeking a part-time Terrace Recreation Assistant II to become the newest member of our Life Enrichment team located in our Ida Culver House, Broadview Community, Seattle, WA. We are looking for a creative, enthusiastic, and team-oriented person to brainstorm new ideas, plan and implement activities, and help enhance the quality of life of our residents. Available shift will be one weekend day. Exact hours will be discussed.

Primary Responsibilities

TheTerrace Recreation Assistant II supports the Life Enrichment program in our memory care unit, providing direction in the general recreation program, the physical fitness program, or the cognitive enrichment program. All duties must be performed while ensuring resident safety, maintaining confidentiality, and showing sensitivity to the needs and concerns of older adults.

  • Coordinate and lead group, individual and resident orientation activities
  • Set up and clean-up of space/supplies/equipment for activities, classes and events
  • Support new resident orientation activities as required
  • Coordinate events, including booking, catering and advertising; develop and maintain a list of scenic drives and destinations
  • Provide transportation for recreation trips for residents as needed, assist residents in and out of the bus or vehicle as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Experience leading group activities and fitness programs
  • Demonstrated excellence in time management and attention to detail, consistently meeting stringent deadlines within designated time frames
  • Ability to provide safe toileting and mobility support for residents when on external community outings as required
  • Possess and maintain a valid WA State Driver License and driving record compliant with Era Living Qualified and Authorized Drivers policy, required; must be 25 years' old
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in English
  • Ability to pass DSHS background check, required
Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
  • CTRS preferred.
  • Previous experience working with older adults or persons with cognitive impairments, preferred.
  • Required:
  • First Aid and CPR certified or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Food Handler’s Certificate or able to obtain within 14 days of hire
  • Washington State Alcohol Permit or able to obtain within 30 days of hire
  • Possess or able to obtain as soon as possible upon hire:
  • Complete Caregiver Dementia and Caregiver Mental Health training within 120 days of hire
  • Must complete 70 hour course to earn a long term care aide certificate within 120 days of hire ** Not required if worked in boarding home setting in 2011
  • Complete 12 hours of Continuing Education Credits (CEUs) yearly (completed by birthdate)
