$17.01/hr - $21.27/hr

The role is also eligible for team-based bonuses. Temporary associates may participate in the 401(k) plan but are not benefits-eligible.

Responsibilities
Job Summary

In alignment with Brookdale's Resident and Family Engagement philosophy, plans, coordinates, and facilitates person-centered dementia programs tailored to residents' needs, interests, and abilities, enhancing their quality of life.

Essential Functions
  • Designs a 7-day program schedule that is engaging, creative, and meets individual needs, promoting wellness in a dementia-friendly environment.
  • Develops monthly calendars based on residents' interests, ensuring scheduled programs and special events are executed.
  • Ensures compliance with Brookdale standards and regulations in dementia care programs.
  • Collaborates with community leadership to educate and provide resources about Alzheimer's and dementia care, including training for staff and families.
  • May supervise Program Assistants, including hiring, coaching, and evaluations.
  • Participates in planning and executing community events and special programs.
  • Reports health and behavioral changes of residents and collaborates on intervention strategies.
  • Manages social media content to reflect Brookdale's culture and standards.
  • Schedules external programming and may drive community vehicles.
  • Maintains department budget and manages volunteer programs.
  • Performs additional personal care, housekeeping, and dietary duties as needed.
Qualifications

Preferred Bachelor's Degree in therapeutic recreation, gerontology, education, or related field. At least two years of experience with older adults and dementia preferred, or equivalent education and experience.

Must hold a valid driver’s license and a clean 3-year driving record. Additional licensing may be required.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climbing, stooping, talking, hearing, lifting up to 50 pounds, vision, and interaction with residents and staff.
  • Occasional weekend/evening shifts, exposure to communicable diseases, potential injury risks, and travel.
Decision-Making & Skills

Uses limited judgment, follows guidelines, and knows when to escalate issues. Basic PC skills and understanding of organizational processes are required.

Salary Range

$17.01 - $21.27 per hour
