Schedule: Part Time, 1st shift with flexible scheduling and weekends required

Starting hourly wage: $17.00

River Ridge is seeking a compassionate Memory Care Activity Assistant to join our team. The role involves organizing and implementing programs tailored to meet the individual needs of our residents. These programs aim to address psychological, intellectual, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs while promoting self-esteem in a caring, nurturing environment. The Activity Assistant supports the Activity Director in all programming tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and implement one-on-one, small group, and large group activities as per the schedule.
• Assist in developing and executing a creative, engaging seven-day-a-week activity program.
• Support residents' abilities by recognizing that all aspects of care can be activities.
• Understand residents' backgrounds, participation needs, physical abilities, interests, cognitive capacity, and attention span.
• Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities.
• Communicate any changes in residents' conditions or behaviors to the Harbor Care Director.
• Remain with the group during excursions.

Requirements:

• High school diploma, bachelor’s degree, or equivalent experience, with knowledge of aging and disability issues. Qualified by experience and training to develop appropriate programs for elders and disabled individuals.
• Training and knowledge in recreational activities.
• Training and knowledge of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding residents, staff, and the community.
• Ability to coordinate multiple tasks, maintain a positive attitude, and work well under pressure.
