Job summary

Freedom Village in Holland, MI is seeking an Activities Assistant to help plan and implement a diverse activity program for Memory Care residents, addressing their physical, emotional and spiritual needs.

You will assist with coordinating calendars, leading discussions and cultural activities, supervising volunteers, and guiding residents to activities, while supporting daily tasks such as mail distribution and event announcements. This is a part-time role at $15.00 per hour.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and coordinating activities: reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits.
• Assist with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter.
• Assist with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.
• Distribute mail daily to residents.
• Move residents to and from recreational areas as needed.
• Announce scheduled activities over the intercom at least fifteen minutes prior to the activity.
• Direct volunteer activities, enlist support, coordinate efforts; provide training and supervision of volunteers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
• Plan and coordinate activities in the absence of the Activity Coordinator.

• Performs and directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
• Announces scheduled activities over the intercom at least fifteen minutes prior to the activity.
• Directs volunteer activities, enlists their support and coordinates their efforts; provides training and supervision of volunteers.
• Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
• Plans and coordinates activities in the absence of the Activity Coordinator.

Other Duties:

• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
