Job summary

Rose Senior Living in Holland, MI is seeking a part-time Activities Assistant to support memory care residents through varied programs designed to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs.

You will assist with planning, coordinating, and delivering activities, preparing monthly calendars, and guiding volunteers, while maintaining attendance records and ensuring resident well-being.

Qualifications

• High School degree required.
• One year experience in a social or recreational program in a licensed health care setting preferred.
• Background in music, art, drama, and dance therapy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate activities including reality orientation, events, discussions, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits.
• Prepare and distribute the monthly calendar and newsletter.
• Distribute mail daily to residents.
• Move residents to and from recreational areas and announce activities.
• Direct volunteer activities and provide training and supervision of volunteers.
• Maintain documentation of resident activity attendance.

GENERAL SUMMARY:The Activities Assistant is responsible for assisting with the overall planning and implementation of a varied activity program designed to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of Memory Care unit residents.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

• Assists with planning, coordinating activities: reality orientation, current events, discussion groups, sensory stimulation, cultural activities, religious services, special entertainment, outside trips, special events, and one-to-one visits, as indicated.
• Assists with preparing and distributing the monthly calendar and newsletter.
• Assists with purchasing supplies for activities as needed.
• Distributes mail daily to residents.
• Performs and directs the movement of residents to and from recreational areas.
• Announces scheduled activities over the intercom at least fifteen minutes prior to the activity.
• Directs volunteer activities, enlists their support and coordinates their efforts; provides training and supervision of volunteers.
• Maintains accurate documentation of resident’s activity attendance.
• Plans and coordinates activities in the absence of the Activity Coordinator.

Other Duties:

• Attends in-service training and education sessions, as assigned.
• Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
