- Assists the Executive Director in directing the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community.
- Develops, maintains, and models collaborative and positive working relationships with community agencies, other organizations, and businesses in the service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring, training, and supervision of membership staff and volunteers.
- Maintains a leadership presence at the Welcome desk to effectively role model best practices and coach staff.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch membership budget to meet or exceed targets.
- Develops and directs high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies, modeling relationship-building skills in all interactions.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs supporting the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefits to the community.
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports overall YMCA objectives.
- Leads continuous improvement efforts based on established benchmarks.
- Collaborates with the branch executive director and management team for safe and responsible operations, including facility supervision and program coverage.
- Works with the Branch Executive Director on daily operations, special projects, and the annual campaign, monitoring programs to ensure quality and relevance.
- May assume acting Executive Director responsibilities when asked.
- Performs assigned duties (building coverage, special events, etc.).
- Ensures staff adhere to policies related to abuse risk, responds to violations, and follows mandated reporting requirements.
- Communicates the organization’s commitment to youth protection.
- Works effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises 2-25 employees in the membership department, including interviewing, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee concerns.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in human services, social services, business, or related field, plus five years of YMCA professional experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong belief in the Y’s mission of nurturing potential and supporting healthy living.
- Experience in managing membership sales, retention, budget development, and community programs.
- Experience in volunteer management and development.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse social and economic groups.
- Proven ability to develop authentic relationships and foster collaboration.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification within 12 months.
- CPR, First Aid, AED, and O2 certifications within 90 days.
- Completion of safety training and paperwork prior to first day of work.
