Membership Director - Ward YMCA (Security)

Join our team at the Eldon and Elise Ward Family YMCA as our Membership Director, where you'll lead with purpose and help create a welcoming, inclusive environment for all. In this key leadership role, you'll oversee membership operations, manage a dynamic team, and ensure staff are trained to meet our high standards for customer service and relationship-building. You'll model best practices at the Welcome Desk, support innovative member engagement strategies, and promote the YMCA's mission throughout the community. Working closely with the Executive Director, you'll also assist with daily operations, volunteer coordination, and branch communications. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal skills, a passion for community engagement, and a proven ability to lead diverse teams. Key responsibilities include:

  1. Thinking, acting, communicating, and behaving as a cause-driven leader and role model for staff and members regarding desired staff behaviors and healthy living practices.
  2. Assisting the Executive Director in directing the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
  3. Representing and promoting the YMCA in the local community.
  4. Developing, maintaining, and modeling collaborative and positive working relationships with community agencies, organizations, and businesses.
  5. Overseeing hiring, training, and supervision of membership staff and volunteers.
  6. Maintaining a leadership presence at the Welcome Desk to role model best practices and coach staff.
  7. Managing the branch membership budget to meet or exceed targets.
  8. Developing and implementing high-quality relationship-based member engagement strategies.
  9. Fostering innovation to develop member-focused programs supporting the Y's mission.
  10. Leading branch marketing and communication efforts.
  11. Supporting overall YMCA management and objectives.
  12. Leading continuous improvement efforts based on key benchmarks.
  13. Collaborating with the management team to ensure safe and responsible operations, including facility supervision and program coverage.
  14. Working with the Executive Director on daily operations, special projects, and monitoring programs.
  15. Assuming acting Executive Director responsibilities when required.
  16. Performing additional duties such as building coverage and special events as assigned.
  17. Ensuring staff adherence to policies related to abuse prevention and responding appropriately to violations and reports of misconduct.
  18. Working effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises 2-25 employees, including interviewing, training, performance appraisal, and addressing employee issues in accordance with policies and laws.
