Job summary

Whitefish Credit Union in Missoula, MT is seeking a friendly Teller to serve Members with deposits, withdrawals and payments. You will balance cash drawers, verify identities and provide accurate transaction processing.

Qualifications

• Strong mathematical skills.
• Ability to handle and process large monetary denominations.
• Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and over the phone with all internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and organize day-to-day responsibilities with attention to detail and timeliness.

Responsibilities

• Create positive and proactive relationships with all Members.
• Smile at all Members and call all Members by name when possible.
• Serve the Member standing in front of you first; answer the phone second; work on side tasks/projects third.
• Balance currency, coin, and checks in cash drawers at ends of shifts, and calculate daily transactions using computers, calculators, or adding machines.
• Follow check handling procedures to validate negotiability of checks.
• Enter Members' transactions into computers to record transactions and issue receipts.
• Verify Member identities before providing information or performing transactions; update Member information as needed.
• Talk to Members about loan balances, interest calculations and dividend rates.
• Maintain understanding of Whitefish Credit Union’s products and promotions.
• Count currency, coins, and checks; prepare for processing.
• Identify and resolve transaction mistakes when debits and credits do not balance.
• Receive and verify mortgage and loan payments; verify dates, amounts, and due
• Contact Members with questions or as needed.
• Resolve problems or discrepancies concerning Members' accounts.
• Allow Members access to Safety Deposit Boxes.
• Assist Vault Teller by counting money from vault and ensuring cash balances.
• Order cash to meet daily needs; count daily inventories.
• Obtain Canadian exchange rates and calculate accordingly.
• Support other departments (EFT wires, loan paperwork) as needed.
• Report to work on time and as scheduled.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
