Job summary

P1FCU in Lewiston, Idaho is seeking a friendly and accurate Teller to assist members with financial transactions and inquiries. You will receive deposits and loan payments, disburse cash, verify transactions, and maintain privacy of member information while delivering excellent service in a busy branch.

Responsibilities

RoleTo assist members and potential members with their financial transactions, involving paying and receiving cash and other negotiable instruments; explains services, respond to problems, and direct members to the appropriate people.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssumes responsibility for the efficient, effective and accurate performance of teller functions by representing the Credit Union in a courteous and professional manner. Receives share deposits and loan payments. Disburses cash or check withdrawals. Processes cash advances, travelers' checks, cashiers' checks, money orders and wire transfers. Verifies transactions. Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for endorsement and negotiability. Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.Balances daily transactions and verifies cash totals. Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.Assures that appropriate records are maintained and required reports are prepared.Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party. Resolves member bookkeeping and checking account problems. Take stop payment orders. Orders checks for members' accounts. Completes appropriate forms for member's needs.Acts as liaison between members and various organizations and departments. Keeps supervisor informed of area activities of any significant problems or concerns.Maintains member account information on computer system and ensures privacy of member account information. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed.Performs other duties as assigned: including but not limited to drive-up service and night drop functions as assigned. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Performs related clerical duties and attends meetings as required.Knowledge and SkillsExperienceUnder one year of similar or preparatory experience.Education/Certifications/LicensesA high school degree or equivalentInterpersonal SkillsWork normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (members or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.Other SkillsMust have excellent knowledge of P1FCU products and services. Must be familiar with various computer software programs and comfortable with automated technology. Must be able to type, use PC, general office equipment including ten-key calculator and excellent in Excel and Word programs. Excellent organizational and editing skills, communication skills with vendors, staff, members, and general public.ADA RequirementsPhysical RequirementsPerform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.Working ConditionsMust be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.Mental and/or Emotional RequirementsMust be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
