Job summary

The West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA is seeking enthusiastic Member Services Representatives for our Wells Ave location. Part-time roles are available with 12–20 hours per week across weekday and weekend shifts. You will deliver excellent service, promote memberships, and maintain a welcoming lobby environment.

Certifications required within 30 days: CPR/AED and First Aid. Prior customer service experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments.
• Previous customer service, sales or related experience.
• Basic knowledge of computers.
• Ability to prioritize in an environment with fluctuating volume; detail oriented and organized.

• May monitor locker rooms and know emergency procedures.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Maintains professional demeanor in uniform.

The WSYMCA is seeking enthusiastic Member Services Representatives to join our team at our Wells Ave location - part time employees are needed! Scheduled hours range from 12-15 or 15-20 hours a week.

Various shifts are available and opportunities include:

• Weekday Openings 5am-8am/9am (we are looking specifically for coverage during this time)
• Weekday Day shifts
• Weekday Closings 6-10pm
• Weekend Shifts 6:30am-12:30pm and 12:30pm-7:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

Delivers excellent service to all members, guests, and program participants. Responds to member and guest needs, promotes memberships and programs, and maintains cleanliness and organization of the lobby area.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
2. Conduct tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
3. Builds authentic, effective relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
4. Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
5. Ensures that the lobby and desk areas are clean and adequately supplied with informational materials, schedules, forms, and promotional items.
6. Conducts routine cleaning of area, records as appropriate.
7. Applies all YMCA policies dealing with member services.
8. May monitor the locker rooms as required.
9. Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Completes related reports as required.
10. Attends all staff meetings and in-service trainings.
11. Must present a professional demeanor in proper uniform.
12. Willingness to accept responsibilities and duties other than those assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to continuously stand or walk for length of shift.
2. Ability to bend, squat, climb stairs and lift up to 25 lbs.
