GC AI is seeking a Member of Technical Staff in Product Engineering to lead end-to-end features that transform how knowledge work is done for thousands of lawyers. You will work with the founding team, owning major components from API to UI and influencing architectural decisions.

You will design scalable backend systems, build cloud-native solutions on GCP, and mentor peers while shipping high-impact features in a fast-growing legal AI platform.

About The Role

We’re looking for a Member of Technical Staff, Product Engineering who’s passionate about building products that transform how knowledge work gets done. As a key member of our engineering team, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of features that directly impact thousands of lawyers’ daily work. You’ll work directly with the founding team on building the future of legal work.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement full-stack features that blend elegant UX with robust backend systems.

Impact You’ll Have

• Own mission-critical surfaces end-to-end from API to UI that lawyers use daily to review, draft, and advise.

• Turn customer feedback into shippable specs and ship quickly, improving quality while shrinking lead time for change.

• Raise the reliability bar (observability, testing, fallbacks) so complex AI features behave predictably in high-stakes moments.

• Help build the leading legal AI platform for in-house teams.

Required Experience

• 3+ years of experience building production-grade web applications.

• Strong expertise in modern JavaScript/TypeScript, and React.

• Deep understanding of React and frontend architecture.

• Experience with cloud platforms (GCP).

• Track record of designing scalable backend systems.

• History of making architectural decisions that stood the test of time.

Nice to Have

• Experience with modern ORMs (Drizzle/Prisma) and API design.

• Knowledge of DevOps practices.

• Background in building secure, compliant systems.

• Familiarity with AI/LLM integrations.

• Experience mentoring other engineers.

• Understanding of legal tech or B2B SaaS.

How We Work Together

GC AI is a distributed company with team members across North America, and soon Europe. We believe that because our business is AI, human connection matters more, not less. We invest in bringing people together through our hub model: regular coworking sessions, customer dinners, team and company offsites. If you’re in a location without an office, expect up to 10% travel (and more for customer‑facing roles).

Team members in the San Francisco Bay Area and Provo, UT (within 50 miles of the office) work together on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. As we grow, we plan to establish permanent offices in more hub cities, and we will look to our team members to help build that in‑person culture. We currently hire across the United States and Canada.
