Job summary

NTT DATA AIVista in Palo Alto, CA is seeking a hands-on AI Engineer to design, develop, and deploy enterprise AI capabilities, including agentic infrastructure and model customization. You will collaborate with experienced teams to build scalable AI solutions and deliver production-grade software across production systems.

The role requires a CS/AI background with 3+ years in software engineering, and familiarity with agentic architectures, RAG, LLMs, and AI pipelines.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, AI/ML, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of software engineering experience with AI-powered products or production AI systems.
• Experience delivering production-quality software.
• Hands-on experience with AI technologies and architectures: agentic systems, RAG, LLMs, AI infra, data pipelines, multi-agent.
• Ability to balance performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Curiosity and ability to learn quickly as AI tech evolves.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

The Member of Technical Staff (LA) – AI Engineer role at NTT DATA AIVista is a hands-on engineering position focused on designing, developing, and deploying AI capabilities for enterprise environments. The work includes agentic infrastructure, model customization, and agentic workflows, with responsibility across production systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy AI capabilities, including agentic infrastructure, model customization, and agentic workflows for major enterprise clients.
• Collaborate with experienced engineering and science teams to build scalable AI capabilities, address complex technical problems, and deliver solutions within enterprise environments.
• Write production-quality software using modern AI technologies and take ownership of meaningful components or capabilities from implementation through deployment and ongoing improvement.

Required Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of relevant software engineering experience, including hands-on work building or contributing to AI-powered products or production AI systems.
• Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering, with experience developing production-quality software.
• Hands-on experience with one or more modern AI technologies or architectures, including areas such as:
  • Agentic systems and agent orchestration
  • Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
  • Model customization, tuning, or optimization
  • Large Language Models (LLMs)
  • AI infrastructure and inference systems
  • Data processing and knowledge pipelines
  • Agent protocols or multi-agent architectures
• Experience translating AI techniques or models into practical software capabilities.
• Ability to make sound implementation decisions and understand tradeoffs across performance, scalability, reliability, and cost.
• Demonstrated curiosity and ability to learn quickly as AI technologies and development practices evolve.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Education

• Master’s or PhD degree preferred.

Compensation

Estimated Salary Range: USD 180,000 to 240,000 per year.

Total Compensation: Total compensation includes variable pay, such as an annual target bonus and other cash incentives, with a combined potential of up to 150% of base salary.
