Job summary

Footprint is building Percy, an AI-powered platform for financial crime investigations. We seek a product-minded frontend engineer to own surfaces, ship polished interfaces, and build SDKs for external developers.

You’ll influence product and design decisions on a senior team and report to the Head of Frontend Engineering. You’ll drive performance, tooling, and the design system while collaborating closely with designers and customers to raise quality and speed.

Qualifications

We're building Percy, the AI agent that runs financial crime investigations end to end.

Compliance teams at banks and fintechs are drowning in financial crimes investigations. Transaction volumes are surging, regulators keep raising the bar, and the work still runs on manual review queues that take hours and are stitched together from legacy vendors. We believe AI will make most of these decisions within a few years, so we built Percy to handle them. Percy learns each team's procedures and makes the same calls their analysts would: clearing false positives, escalating real risk, writing the case narrative, and documenting every decision for audit. It cuts review workloads by 70%+ and routinely catches fraud that human reviewers miss.

Because we own the entire identity flow, Percy resolves ambiguity at the source, running its own checks across our verification tools before a case ever reaches a human.

We're backed by QED, Index, Box Group, and Lerer Hippeau, and trusted by companies like Bilt, Nuvei, and MoonPay. We 5x'd revenue last year and plan to do it again in 2026. The team is small, senior, and ships fast.

The Role

We're looking for a product-minded frontend engineer with strong technical fundamentals and real design taste to own that surface. You'll ship polished, high-stakes interfaces, build the SDKs external developers integrate, and keep our frontend platform fast, scalable, and maintainable as we grow.

This is a high-ownership seat on a small, senior team. You'll make product and design calls, not just implement tickets, and what you ship will be in front of customers immediately. You'll report directly to our Head of Frontend Engineering.

What You'll Own

• End-to-end feature ownership: Own user-facing features from spec to build to deploy to iterate, making the product and design tradeoffs along the way rather than implementing handed-down specs.

• SDK development: Build and maintain the SDKs external developers use to embed Footprint, where clean APIs and great docs directly shape our customers' integration experience.

• Platform and tooling: Improve CI/CD, releases, and our monorepo tooling (pnpm) so the whole frontend team ships faster and more safely.

• Performance and observability: Drive frontend performance, monitoring, and observability so issues get caught and resolved before customers ever feel them.

• Design system: Own and evolve our component library and design system, keeping the UI consistent, accessible, and fast to build on.

• Customer empathy: Listen to customers, dig into their pain points, and turn what you learn into product improvements. You'll be close to the people who use what you build.

Must-Have

• Deep React and TypeScript experience: You're fluent in modern React and TypeScript and comfortable moving fast in a large, shared codebase.

• Strong product mindset: You ship end-to-end, prioritize outcomes over output, and make smart tradeoffs between speed, polish, and scope.

• High bar for UI quality: You sweat the details, have genuine design sense, and collaborate closely with designers to ship interfaces that feel great.

• Clean, maintainable code: You write readable, well-structured code and can lead technical decisions without over-engineering.

• Ownership mindset: You take responsibility for the full lifecycle, CI/CD, releases, performance, and monitoring, not just the code you wrote.

• AI-native: You use AI thoughtfully to move faster and raise quality, while validating results and holding a high engineering bar.

Nice-to-Have

• Experience building or maintaining SDKs or developer-facing APIs.

• Familiarity with the KYC, identity, fraud, or compliance space.

• Comfort dipping into the backend (we use Rust) when a feature calls for it.

• A strong eye for accessibility and web performance at scale.
