Job summary

Coram AI in Sunnyvale, CA seeks an engineering leader to direct our California engineering team. This hands-on role will set technical direction for edge AI, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing engineering while mentoring engineers and growing the team.

You will work closely with the CTO, CEO, and Product, grow the org 2–3x, and stay close to code through architecture reviews and debugging. A track record of senior-level leadership and strong hiring standards is essential.

Qualifications

• Reached Staff / very senior IC level and spent a couple of years there before moving into management (typically after ~4–5 years engineering).
• Current or prior experience managing engineers (Tech Lead Manager or Engineering Manager).
• Deep strength in at least one: distributed / real-time systems (e.g. C++), robotics / AI, or HPC.
• Experience inside a large engineering culture with 50–100+ engineers.
• Strong hiring track record and high bar for what great looks like.
• Hands-on and motivated by ownership, impact, and shaping the product.

Responsibilities

The Role

Lead our entire California engineering team as the engineering leader for our Sunnyvale office. Your team owns critical parts of our edge AI platform, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing engineering. This is a hands-on technical leadership role: you'll set direction and grow the team, but stay close to the code through architecture, review, and debugging. You'll start managing the engineers, growing significantly within a year as we scale 2–3x, and work directly with the CTO, CEO, and Product.

What We're Looking For
