Job description

Member of Technical Staff, Customer Engineer

Pace is the AI operations partner for the world's leading insurers.

We deploy AI agents, backed by our expert insurance operations review, to take on complex insurance workflows end to end. Financial services spend nearly $400B a year on outsourced operations. We’re building the layer that replaces it, working alongside the largest insurers in the world.

We're looking for an engineer to ensure Pace works for our largest customers.

You’ll work directly with enterprise customers to build solutions to their most pressing problems – shipping integrations, features, and fixes that unblock deployments and drive production impact. Our product is deeply embedded in mission-critical insurance workflows, and you’ll own ensuring Pace delivers.

What this looks like:
  • Ship features, integrations, and solutions in our codebase to address customer requirements
  • Build and maintain integrations that connect to customer systems (APIs, data pipelines, internal tools)
  • Debug and resolve complex issues across our AI agents, customer environments, and third-party systems
  • Partner with Forward Deployed Engineers to ensure smooth transitions from POC to production
  • Collaborate with core engineering to surface product gaps and ship improvements upstreamDevelop deep technical expertise on our platform to serve as a trusted resource for customers
  • Are a strong engineer who can build, debug, and deploy production systems
  • Thrive in ambiguous environments where customer problems don’t come pre-scoped
  • Communicate clearly with both technical teams and customer stakeholders
  • Take ownership of outcomes, not deliverables
  • Want to ship constantly and see your code running at enterprise scale
  • Can hold context across multiple customers and codebases without losing quality
Our Team

We’re building a small, talent-dense team with a few defining traits:

  • Integrity: We care about working with good people who want to create a massive impact in the world. Our team aims to do the best work of their careers, knowing that it will take time and focus to build something enduring.
  • Ambition: We’re building a category-defining company: an AI-native operations layer that brings outsourced work back in-house for insurers – and eventually other service-heavy industries. We’re looking for people who want real ownership, an exceptional bar, and the chance to build something generational.

At Pace, teammates grow into leaders. That can mean becoming a world-class IC, owning a product or business line, or leading teams. Whichever your path, we’ll support your growth at Pace, and beyond.

We're a 20 person team, in-person in New York, and are fortunate to be partnered with leading customers and top investors to make a real impact on one of the largest industries in the world.
