Job summary

The Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan is seeking a Fitness Desk Receptionist to warmly welcome members and guests, check them in for classes, and answer questions in a friendly, professional manner.

The role involves assisting with class check-ins, maintaining a safe, clean front desk, handling basic admin tasks, and promoting club programs. The shift runs Monday-Thursday 2:00pm-10:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-9:00pm, with schedule changes possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• At least 1 year hands-on experience with fitness equipment and guidance to members.
• CPR certification required; additional certifications are a plus.
• Proficient with basic computer applications (Word/Excel) and able to learn scheduling software.
• Experience with Mindbody or similar platforms preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and assist members.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet members and guests warmly and check them in for classes.
• Provide seamless check-in and a welcoming experience at the front desk.
• Answer questions with clear, friendly, and professional responses.
• Address concerns with empathy and resolve issues promptly.
• Verify account status and document concerns as needed.
• Maintain knowledge of fitness equipment and report maintenance needs.
• Uphold safety standards and respond to emergencies per procedures.
• Perform daily admin tasks and data entry with accuracy.
• Maintain a polished appearance and adhere to dress code.
• Promote club programs and events to members and guests.
