Melting Supervisor - Steelmaking

Location: Bartonville/Peoria, IL

Department: Steelmaking Operations

Type: Full-time | Salaried

Compensation: $59,400 - $74,300 | Job Grade 22

Bonus: 12% Discretionary Target Bonus

Schedule: Rotating shifts | Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays as needed - overtime opportunities

Are you a natural leader with experience in steel melting or casting operations? Do you thrive in a fast-paced industrial setting where safety, quality, and performance matter?

We're hiring a Melting Supervisor to lead a team of skilled hourly employees in our steelmaking department. This critical role ensures safe, efficient, and high-quality operations across the Electric Arc Furnace (EAF), Ladle Metallurgical Furnace (LMF), and Continuous Caster.

What You'll Do

Supervise the daily work of ~20 hourly employees in melting operations

Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and production standards

Coordinate maintenance efforts to reduce downtime and optimize uptime

Track and report shift performance data for EAF, LMF, and Caster

Lead continuous improvement initiatives in productivity and cost reduction

Occasionally direct Maintenance and Raw Materials Supervisors

Collaborate with other supervisors and cross-functional teams

️ What We're Looking For

Experience: 6+ months in melting/casting with Associate degree OR 3+ years of hands-on experience without a degree

Leadership: Prior supervisory experience in a unionized environment preferred

Tech Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic computer systems

Education: Associate degree or equivalent preferred; High school diploma required

Mindset: Strong communicator, safety-first leader, results-oriented
