Job summary

Nemak in Augusta, GA is seeking an experienced technician to operate and maintain melting furnaces and perform material testing on molten aluminum. You will also spark test samples and ensure quality in line with safety and process standards.

The role involves transporting molten metal to dosing furnaces, adjusting process parameters within tolerance, logging melting reports and downtime, and performing maintenance on equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Forklift license or crane operator license is desirable.
• Experience operating melting furnaces and handling molten metals.
• Experience in material testing and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain melting furnaces; perform material testing including spark testing.
• Transport and pour molten aluminum into the dosing furnace.
• Adjust operational parameters within set tolerances and suggest improvements.
• Keep and compile logs and reports such as melting reports and downtime.
• Perform maintenance on melting furnaces and repair transport crucibles.
• Document troubleshooting and error-correction measures.
• Other duties as assigned.
