Responsibilities

  • Oversee melting and delivery system processes for production lines.
  • Maintain process control and recommend process improvement initiatives.
  • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts.
  • Build understanding of key process steps using engineering principles.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to equipment and processes.
  • Maintain systems to monitor equipment and process performance.
  • Lead and support Process Excellence projects such as cost reduction and process optimization.
  • Documentation and Training: update engineering and operations docs for ISO compliance.
  • Provide training for the operations workforce regarding process or equipment changes.
  • Collaboration and Safety: work with teams to meet goals and participate in safety initiatives.

Role Purpose

The Melting Process Engineering Intern will have the opportunity to learn and manage the melting and delivery system processes for production lines. This role focuses on process control, discipline, and continuous improvement while providing technical expertise to address manufacturing challenges. The position requires a combination of data-driven problem-solving, collaboration across departments, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee melting and delivery system processes for production lines
  • Maintain process control and recommend process improvement initiatives
    • Solve process issues through data analysis, experimentation, and collaboration with subject matter experts
    • Build an understanding of key process steps using engineering principles
    • Recommend and implement improvements to equipment and processes
      • Maintain systems to monitor equipment and process performance
      • Lead and support PEx (Process Excellence) projects, such as cost reduction, process optimization, and technology migration
  • Documentation and Training:
    • Develop and update engineering and operations documentation, as needed, to maintain ISO compliance
    • Provide training for the operations workforce regarding process or equipment changes
  • Collaboration and Safety:
    • Collaborate with other teams and departments to meet or exceed manufacturing goals
    • Actively engage in plant safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment
Experiences/Education - Required
  • Pursuing BS or MS in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred)
Required Skills
  • Strong scientific and engineering skills for fundamental understanding, including broad knowledge of engineering principles (Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Material Science)
  • Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly
  • Proficiency in data analysis and interpreting results
  • Experience with experimental design and applying engineering principles
  • Strong multitasking and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Results-oriented with a focus on problem-solving and performance improvement

The range for this position is $1,635.00 - $3,185.00biweekly. Starting pay for the successful applicant is prescribed based on geographic location, nature of position, and year in school.
