Job summary

Corning Incorporated in Canton, NY, is hiring a Process Engineer to join a manufacturing engineering team that supports multiple product lines and drives process improvement, production support, and technology development. You will help improve manufacturing performance, reduce costs, improve quality, and deepen process understanding across forming, fluoride crystals, and new glass-making technology.

This full-time, on-site role typically works Monday through Friday, with some flex as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Ceramic Engineering, Materials Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional non-academic experience in a technical, engineering, or development role.
  • Experience leading or supporting process improvement and process development efforts.
  • Manufacturing background in environments involving chemical reactions or material transformation.
  • Strong technical problem-solving skills with data analysis and conclusions.
  • Demonstrated technical project leadership and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects aimed at achieving manufacturing performance targets for both new and existing processes.
  • Define process limitations based on current equipment and process capabilities and recommend how to eliminate those limitations.
  • Lead efforts to develop fundamental understanding of key processes to drive continuous improvement, yield improvement, and cost reduction.
  • Provide guidance to management on project priority selection.
  • Lead and support critical engineering and development projects that support plant goals and long-term objectives.
  • Leverage technical and engineering resources across the division and company to improve project outcomes.
  • Interface with and support development on new product and process introductions, raw material changes, and equipment design changes.

Role Purpose

Corning Incorporated is hiring aProcess Engineerat ourCanton, NYmanufacturing site. This is afull-time onsite rolethat typically works M – F, 40 hours per week, with a flex as needed.U.S. citizenship is required for this position.Relocation assistance is available.

Join a manufacturing engineering team that supports multiple product lines and plays a key role in process improvement, production support, and technology development. In this role, you will help drive manufacturing performance, cost reduction, quality improvement, and deeper process understanding across areas including forming, fluoride crystals, and a newer glass-making technology. This position is ideal for an engineer who can step into a manufacturing environment, manage priorities, lead projects, and support improvement initiatives and capital equipment installations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead projects aimed at achieving manufacturing performance targets for both new and existing processes
  • Define process limitations based on current equipment and process capabilities and recommend how to eliminate those limitations
  • Lead efforts to develop fundamental understanding of key processes to drive continuous improvement, yield improvement, and cost reduction

Required Education and Experience

  • Demonstrated technical project leadership experience and strong communication skills

Preferred Qualifications & Skills
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environmentwith responsibility for project execution and process improvement
  • Understanding ofhypothesis testing, experiment planning, and statistical analysis
  • Experience with structured problem-solving methods such asKT, DMAIC, Six Sigma, or scientific method
  • Ability to work effectively with production and maintenance employees in aunionized environment
  • Green Belt or Black Belt certification

The range for this position is $97,286.00-$133,768.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
