Job summary

Gerdau is seeking a Process Engineer for Melt Shop Operations in the Greater Richmond Region of Virginia. You will partner with production, maintenance, and management to drive safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost improvements in a world-class steelmaking environment.

You will implement best practices, standardization, and continuous improvement methodologies while coaching teams in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and root-cause analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent with 3–5 years in heavy industrial/process manufacturing.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and quality improvement methodologies.
• Strong communication, coaching, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead continuous improvement projects in Melt Shop operations.
• Analyze production data to identify trends and root causes.
• Reduce process variation and improve reliability with data-driven problem solving.
• Develop and maintain process standards and best practices.
• Manage and support CAPEX projects from planning through execution.
• Coach employees on Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving techniques.
