Gerdau is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer for Melt Shop Operations in the Greater Richmond region. You will partner with production, maintenance, and leadership to drive safety, quality, productivity, reliability, and cost improvements across melt shop processes.

The role emphasizes standardization, continuous improvement, and coaching teams in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies to raise operational excellence.

Qualifications

  • Requires a degree in engineering, business, materials science or related field.
  • Alternative: HS diploma with 6-8 years experience in heavy industry.
  • Experience in heavy industrial or process manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead continuous improvement projects for Melt Shop operations.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends and root causes.
  • Reduce process variation via data-driven problem solving.
  • Develop and maintain process standards and best practices.
  • Support CAPEX projects from planning through execution.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve equipment and plant performance.
  • Provide training on Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methods.
