Job summary

Gerdau in Texas seeks a Furnace/Caster support role to maintain and stock consumables, perform general housekeeping (5S), and assist other furnace operators. You may collect and run slag samples as part of daily duties.

Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs, work rotating 12-hour shifts, and follow safety rules. Gerdau offers strong benefits, overtime, and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Ability to read, write, and follow simple instructions.
• Specialized knowledge in steelmaking processes preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock supplies and/or consumables.
• Operate/stock temperature and sampling device for temperatures, oxygen readings, and steel samples.
• May manage slag pots/pits and maintain refractory (patching or gunning).
• Build and add electrodes and record data in production systems.
• Communicate with team members and assist in training coworkers.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment; follow safety rules.
