Job summary

Gerdau North America is hiring for a Furnace/Material Handler role within our Texas facility. You will maintain and stock consumables for the Furnace or Caster, perform routine housekeeping (5S and cleaning), and assist other furnace operators as needed, including slag sample collection.

The job requires lifting up to 75 lbs, the ability to work rotating 12-hour shifts (days/nights/weekends), and reliability in a steelmaking environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Ability to read, write and carry out instructions.
• Basic math skills and ability to read specifications and gauges.

Responsibilities

• Unload trucks and stock supplies and/or consumables.
• Operate temperature and sampling devices and collect steel samples.
• Maintain refractory work and clean slag pots/pits as needed.
• Record data in production systems and communicate with the team.
• Perform daily 5S housekeeping and assist in training coworkers.
