Job summary

Curt Koland Recruiting is seeking an R&D Engineer for a full-time on-site role in the San Francisco Bay Area. The engineer will design, prototype, test, and improve next‑generation medical devices, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and suppliers to bring concepts to market.

Requirements include a 2+ year track record in medical devices, CAD proficiency with SolidWorks, and a degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering. US work authorization is required for this on-site opportunity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years of engineering experience, preferably in medical devices or biotechnology.
• Hands-on experience with CAD; SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with FEA, FMEA, and tolerance stack-up analyses.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Familiarity with Design Controls and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop medical device products in a regulated environment.
• Translate engineering concepts into 3D CAD models, drawings, and functional prototypes.
• Build and test prototypes to evaluate proof of concept and product performance.
• Develop test protocols and perform product verification and validation.
• Apply engineering principles and hands-on problem solving to resolve design challenges.
• Collaborate with quality, manufacturing, and supplier teams.
