Job summary

Confluent Medical Technologies in Austin, TX seeks a Manufacturing Technical Writer to develop, revise, and maintain documentation supporting engineering, manufacturing, and quality activities for medical device products.

You will collaborate with Process Development, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain to translate engineering inputs into controlled documents and to standardize work instructions and procedures across sites, including Costa Rica.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a related field.
• 3–5+ years of technical writing in manufacturing or regulated environments.
• Experience creating and maintaining controlled documentation such as work instructions, SOPs, inspection procedures, specifications, protocols, or risk documentation.
• Ability to translate engineering information into clear, concise, operator-ready instructions.
• Experience collaborating with engineers, technicians, operators, and other technical SMEs.
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems, document control, routing, revision-controlled documents, and cross-functional review processes.

Responsibilities

• Shadow engineers and technicians to capture processes and create clear work instructions.
• Develop documentation from engineering inputs, drawings, specs, and risk inputs.
• Review and standardize procedures for clarity and usability by production operators.
• Create and maintain work instructions, inspection procedures, protocols, and purchasing specifications.
• Support ERP part setup and related product lifecycle documentation.
• Transform complex procedures into visual, step-by-step instructions with photos and diagrams.
• Ensure compliance with QMS, ERP, purchasing, inspection, validation, and risk management requirements.
