Job summary

Johnson & Johnson is seeking an Embedded Software Test Engineer in New Jersey to develop and execute manual and automated validation for embedded platforms under real-time constraints. You’ll collaborate across hardware, firmware and software teams to ensure robust releases and efficient test coverage.

Responsibilities include test plan execution, fixture design, and CI/CD enhancements. Travel about 5% for field validation and customer interactions; a strong emphasis on teamwork and problem

Qualifications

• BS/MS in CS, math, computer engineering, electrical engineering or equivalent
• 0–2 years manual and automated testing on embedded RTOS
• Experience with Python scripting and Windows shell
• Design of fixtures and tools for test automation
• Familiarity with behavior-driven development and automation testing
• Experience with DevOps tools (Jira, Jenkins, Jama, GitLab)
• Ability to troubleshoot at system level (electrical/software)
• Willingness to travel ~5% for field testing with customers
• Strong communication and analytical skills
• Independent and able to manage competing priorities

Responsibilities

• Support manual and automated test plans, cases and scripts for embedded software per IEC 62304
• Collaborate with hardware, software and systems teams to define testing requirements
• Lead test execution with internal and external partners and ensure timely releases
• Enhance test automation framework and CI/CD pipelines for embedded integration
• Design and develop test fixtures with cross-functional teams
• Perform root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions
• Incorporate Johnson & Johnson Credo into team goals and decisions
