Job summary

Optim is seeking a Nursing Assistant MedSurg (PRN/1st Shift) in Sylvania, GA to provide basic nursing care for non-acute patients. You will assist with positioning, ambulation, specimen collection, vital signs, and daily patient needs in a collaborative team environment.

The role requires strong communication with patients, families, and the care team, and involvement in admissions, transfers, and routine nursing tasks. This is a part-time as-needed position supporting a busy MedSurg unit.

Qualifications

• Provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice.
• Assists with positioning, lifting, turning, and ambulation.
• Obtains specimens and delivers to the laboratory, and retrieves x-ray films.
• Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, BP, weight, and intake-output.
• Reports changes to licensed personnel and liaises with the care team.
• Prepares patients for meals and assists with feeding and hydration.
• Supports admission, transfer and discharge processes and teamwork across departments.

Responsibilities

• Provides basic nursing care to non-acutely ill patients within the nursing assistant’s scope of practice that includes actions that meet psychosocial needs and physical needs.
• Provides general nursing care such as positioning patients, lifting and turning patients, transferring patients and assisting patients with ambulation.
• Obtains patient specimens and delivers to the laboratory, retrieves x-ray films etc.
• Takes and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, weight and intake-output of patients. Reports any abnormal findings to the appropriate nursing staff.
• Prepares patients for meals, serves and removes food trays and assists with meals or feeds patients if necessary, distributes water pitchers and other nourishments to patients.
