Job summary

Prisma Health in Oconee Memorial Hospital's Surgical Specialty unit seeks a Nursing Assistant to support patient care under RN supervision. You will collect data, perform basic nursing tasks, assist with activities of daily living, and help with treatments and equipment.

The night shift emphasizes teamwork, safety, and compassionate care while maintaining clean rooms and accurate documentation in the EMR.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Collect data related to patient status and document it.
• Assist with activities of daily living and hygiene including turning and repositioning.
• Assist with admission, room setup and orientation to the unit.
• Take and record vital signs; report questionable values.
• Prepare patients for meals and assist with feeding.
• Collect specimens and deliver to the appropriate department.
• Complete documentation in EMR accurately and timely.
• Maintain cleanliness and order of patient areas and equipment.
• Perform point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN.

Job Summary

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for the collection of data related to patient status. Performance of basic nursing procedures. On-going collection and documentation of patient data. Assistance with treatments and procedures. Assistance with maintenance of patient care equipment.

Essential Functions

• Assists patients with activities of daily living and hygiene. Turns and repositions patients alone or with assistance. May transport patients and assist with walking. Assisting adult/pediatric patients with toileting needs in relation to their age including emptying established colostomy bags and urinary catheter removal. Assists with fall prevention interventions and patient restraints as delegated. Removing and reapplying anti-emboli hose or compression devices.
• Assists with admission of patients to the unit by preparing room, greeting, and orienting patient and/or family to the unit (bed, call light, phone, TV).
• Takes and records vital signs and with repeating questionable values.
• Prepares patients for meals and assisting in feeding and providing snacks and supplements.
• Collects urine, stool, and sputum specimens. Delivers specimens to appropriate department as requested.
• Completes documentation in EMR in accurate and timely manner.
• Maintains cleanliness and order of hospital room, utility room, diet kitchen, hallways, and alcoves. Disposes of excess linen and keeps linen emptied.
• Performs point of care testing as trained and delegated by RN. Reports lab values to RN.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

• This is a non-management job that will report to a supervisor, manager, director or executive.
