Job summary

Prism Electric is seeking a Medium Voltage Industrial Technician to join our Texas-based team. The role focuses on installing and servicing medium voltage systems (5kV–25kV), motor controls, generators, UPS, and related electrical infrastructure, with opportunities to lead a small crew.

The ideal candidate holds a Texas Master or Journeyman Electrician license, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass drug and background checks.

Qualifications

  • Texas Master or Journeyman Electrician license required.
  • Texas Driver’s license with clean driving record; CDL a plus.
  • Must pass drug testing and 10-year background check.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Thermographer certification is a plus.
  • MM fiber and Cat5/Cat6 cabling troubleshooting and testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service in client-facing situations.
  • Troubleshoot a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing systems.
  • Troubleshoot and install motor control systems.
  • Install and service manufacturing/light industrial equipment including UPS.
  • Install generators.
  • Perform medium voltage installations (5kV–25kV), terminations, testing (HiPot).
  • Manage a small crew.
  • Troubleshoot and program PLCs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service when in client facing situations.
  • Trouble shooting a wide variety of industrial?and manufacturing systems .
  • Trouble shooting and installation of motor control systems .
  • Manufacturing / Light Industrial installations including UPS.
  • Generator installations .
  • Medium Voltage (5KV to 25KV) installations, terminations, testing ( HiPot ) .
  • Ability to manage small crew .
  • PCL troubleshooting and programing.
Requirements
  • State of Texas Master or Journeyman Electrician license .
  • Texas Driver’s license and a clean driving record. Holder of a Texas CDL not required but considered a plus.
  • All candidates must be able to pass drug testing and national minimum 10-year background check .
  • Potential candidates are required to have a professional appearance and demeanor .
  • Certified thermographer – not required but a plus.
  • MM Fiber and / or Cat 5 - Cat 6 cabling troubleshooting, installation, and testing – not required but considered a plus.

The job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, and rain. Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses always), respirator when required. Able to work 8 -10 hours per day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts. Includes crawling, standing, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, sitting, reaching, able to routinely lift heavy objects more than 50 pounds and pushing and pulling of objects is required. Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers. Physical work is a primary part (more than 70%) of the job.
