Job summary

A transportation services provider in Cookeville, Tennessee is seeking an experienced mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on bucket and digger trucks. Job description

Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of bucket and digger trucks to ensure optimal performance and longevity, across multiple job locations.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and industry best practices.
  • Collaborate with the equipment management team to maintain accurate records of repairs, inspections, and maintenance schedules.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues that may arise during construction projects.
  • Keep abreast of industry developments and technological advancements related to bucket and digger truck mechanics.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities
  • Proven experience as a mechanic with a focus on bucket and digger trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.

  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and convey information to managers.
  • Certification in diesel mechanics or a related field is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license; Class A CDL is a plus.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
  • Must be willing to travel out of state as needed.
Education and Experience
  • Must have previous mig welding experience.
  • Must have previous experience operating a cutting torch.
  • 7‑10+ years of related experience is required.
Physical Demands/Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift heavy equipment parts and tools (up to 40 lbs).
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and stand to operate and repair heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to work in all types of weather, including extremely hot and extremely cold temperatures.
