Job summary

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) in New York City seeks a Criminalist Assistant Director to lead field operations and advanced investigations across five boroughs. This role supports 24/7 readiness, oversees morgue services, body transport, and evidence handling, and coordinates with external agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Experience in death investigations preferred.
• Valid driver’s license in New York State.

Responsibilities

• Ensure unity of effort/command for Agency operations.
• Monitor and coordinate field deployment and operations, morgue services, body transportation, evidence handling and identification.
• Address, manage and mitigate operational issues.
• Respond to death scenes to supervise investigations in progress.
• Interface with District Attorney Offices, NYPD, and other external agencies.
