Job summary

Broad Institute in Cambridge, MA, seeks a bench-based synthetic organic chemist to support an early drug discovery project by synthesizing and distributing small molecule compounds. The role includes documenting work, analyzing reactions, and presenting results to internal teams.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Chemistry or related field with 2+ years postgraduate organic/medicinal chemistry experience, or MS with 0+ years.
• Experience with multi-step chemical synthesis.
• Experience with chromatography and purification (normal phase, reverse phase) and HPLC.

Responsibilities

• Synthesize, isolate, and purify novel small molecules for ongoing projects.
• Document lab work in electronic notebooks promptly and accurately.
• Analyze and troubleshoot chemical reactions with supervisor.
• Present results to internal teams.
• Collaborate with team members to meet project milestones.
• Support compound management and automation teams, handling distributed small molecule compounds.
