Job summary

Aviata Health Group is seeking Medication Techs to join our family in New York. You will assist residents with daily living activities, supervise medications, and support insulin testing, while promoting safety and dignity.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School diploma or GED.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• May complete state-required Medication Technician Training.
• Ability to read and communicate at an adequate level.
• Ability to treat seniors with dignity and respect.
• Caregivers must complete new hire orientation.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living.
• Supervise residents with prescribed medication.
• Supervise finger sticks for insulin testing and injections.
• Encourage residents to participate in activities.
• Monitor health, safety and wellbeing of residents.
• Document changes in residents’ status and needs.
• Maintain a safe environment for residents.
• Report concerns to supervisor and co-workers.
• Respond to emergencies with first aid and follow-up.
• Promote teamwork in service delivery.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, eating, toileting, hygiene and mobility.
• Supervise residents with prescribed medication.
• Supervise finger sticks for insulin testing, and insulin injections. Assist residents with oxygen, ostomies and other medical problems as outlined in the support plan.
• Encourage and/or remind residents to participate in activities. Promote activities enthusiastically to pique residents’ interest.
• Monitor health, safety and wellbeing of the residents.
• Document information pertaining to changes in residents’ functional status, personal needs, appointment, etc.
• Assist in keeping the environment safe for residents.
• Report concerns about residents to supervisor and co-workers.
• Respond to resident emergencies; provide first-aid assistance and arrange for appropriate medical attention/follow-up.
• Practice safety in working around and with equipment, chemicals, tools and utensils.
• Promote teamwork in providing services to residents.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED.
• Must be 18 years of age.
• May have to attend and successfully complete state required Medication Technician Training.
• Ability to read and communicate at an adequate level to essential job duties.
• Ability to treat and care for seniors and their property with dignity and respect.
• Ability to communicate with clients in a friendly and congenial manner.
• Caregivers must complete our new hire orientation.
