Job summary

The Residences at East Ave is seeking a dedicated Medication Technician to join our team in New York. You will administer medications, maintain accurate documentation, and support residents with compassion in a collaborative environment.

Ideal candidates have strong communication, attention to detail, and a patient, team-oriented approach. Shifts include 7a-3p, 3p-11p, and 11p-7a with rotating weekends; benefits after probationary period.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directly administers medications and treatments to residents as ordered by physicians (excludes injectable medications).
• Ensure proper storage, labeling and distribution of medications, including controlled substances.
• Maintain timely and accurate documentation per service excellence standards.
• Notify the Resident Care Director of changes in resident condition or needs.
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate resident needs to the next shift.
• Follow safety rules and HIPAA policies; implement emergency procedures as required.
• Attend required meetings and utilize PPE as needed.

The Medication Technician administers medications and ensures documentation and compliance with NYS ACF DOH regulations.

Medication Technician Essential Job Functions:

Directs/assists with safe, proper administration of medication to assigned residents excluding injectable medications.

Administer medications and treatments to assigned residents as ordered by physician

Responsible for all aspects of the storage and distribution of controlled substance medications, ensures proper placement, labeling and use of medication stored by facility and medication room refrigerator.

Responsible for responding immediately to resident’s requests.

Performs timely and accurate documentation according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position.

Reports to Resident Care Director any unusual symptoms, changes of condition, daily needs, and progress of residents.

Participates in Change-of-Shift Report and is responsible for bringing care staff personnel of next shift up to date about the care and needs of residents.

Performs all position duties according to safety rules and standards of practice required for this position, and as required to ensure the general safety of staff, residents, and visitors of this facility.

Implements emergency procedures in a correct and efficient manner.

Performs timely and accurate documentation according to the service excellence standards and goals established for this position.

Notifies RCD of changes in resident’s condition or needs:

Maintains facility standards for resident care by:

Maintaining knowledge of and protecting rights of residents.

Ensuring that all residents are treated with respect and kindness.

Reporting to the Resident Care Director about facility equipment that needs repair, unsafe condition in room or on floor, or personal needs of residents.

Showing respect for personal possessions of residents and helping maintain an orderly and pleasant environment on the floor for staff and residents.

Observes and practices confidentiality of resident information and privacy when performing job duties.

Maintains facility standards for service and customer service focus techniques.

Attends facility meetings, staff meetings, and required or preferred in-services.

Applies and utilizes Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.

Displays genuine concern for elderly population, is dependable, patient with a compassionate attitude and respectful demeanor.

Completion of Med Tech training on Relias and first aid certification within 10 days of hire.

Utilizes electronic timekeeping system as directed.

Arrives to work on time, regularly, and works as scheduled.

Recognizes and follows the dress code of the facility including wearing name tag at all times.

Follows policy and procedure regarding all electronic devices, computers, tablets, etc.

Abides by Company businesses code of conduct, compliance and HIPAA policies.

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor, management staff or Administrator.

Qualifications

Medication Technician Educational Requirements and Qualifications:

This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
