Qualifications

• Successful completion of an approved Medication Technician/Medication Aide training and certification program, as required by applicable state regulations
• Must maintain required certification and complete continuing education as required by state regulations
• High school diploma or GED
• Knowledge of applicable medication administration techniques and procedures
• Previous experience in assisted living, memory care, long-term care, healthcare, or senior living is preferred
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
• Must successfully complete required training and competency programs
• Must meet applicable health and employment requirements
• Must be able to work assigned shifts and maintain reliable attendance

Responsibilities

• Administer medications to residents as prescribed and in accordance with applicable state regulations, physician orders, and community policies
• Accurately document medication administration and related information
• Follow established medication administration procedures and safety practices
• Observe residents for changes in condition, medication effectiveness, side effects, or potential adverse reactions
• Promptly report changes or concerns to the Resident Care Director, Wellness Director, or appropriate supervisor
• Obtain and document vital signs when required as part of medication administration
• Maintain accurate medication records and documentation
• Assist with medication ordering, receiving, storage, and accountability procedures
• Ensure medications are stored securely and appropriately
• Complete medication counts and shift-to-shift medication accountability according to established procedures
• Monitor medication supplies and communicate needs or concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Promote resident choice, dignity, privacy, and independence during medication administration
• Communicate respectfully and professionally with residents, families, and members of the care team
• Follow infection prevention and universal precaution practices
• Maintain clean, safe, and properly functioning medication equipment and supplies
• Follow all applicable state and federal regulations and company policies
• Maintain resident confidentiality and protect Protected Health Information
• Recognize and report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment, or violations of residents’ rights
• Participate in required training, competency programs, emergency drills, and safety activities
• Assist with emergency procedures and resident evacuation when necessary
• Provide Resident Care Associate duties and other support as assigned and permitted by applicable regulations

What You'll Do

Physical Requirements

This position involves active, hands-on resident care and requires the ability to:

• Move intermittently throughout the workday
• Stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull as needed
• Assist residents with mobility and personal care
• Lift, push, pull, move, and/or carry at least 25 pounds as required by the position
• Use mechanical or assistive devices when appropriate
• Work safely with residents who may have physical, cognitive, or behavioral challenges
• Assist with emergency evacuation procedures when necessary
